In any fields it is important for the artists to find their own style.  The Hungarian Multicultural Center-t (HMC) helps artists to create and exhibit their work in a reputable place.

The HMC is an award-winning, non-profit organization, which was founded in 1990 and is currently based in both Budapest and Dallas.  The HMC is supported through both memberships and donations, and its goal is to organize international artistic residencies to promote and environment for creation and learning. Artists are invited to spend a few weeks in Hungary, internalize the Hungarian culture and appropriate it through their work.  The creator and founder of the HMC is Beata Szechy, an artist herself, who organizes film screenings, workshops, lectures, and exhibitions in Budapest, Balatonfured and Csopak.  The main activities are the artists’ residencies (AIR) that are continuously been happening over the last 18 years, as a support to artists from around the world.  The artists have the opportunity for a longer duration to work and develop their art.  There they learn about Hungarian culture, Hungarian art and have the opportunity to exchange ideas with the fellow artists. There are always possibilities in finding new connections within the art world and developing further networks.  For all for these reasons, the HMC selects artists, from a variety of different countries and who work in an assortment of mediums, by a professional jury. The artists who attend the residency say that HMC's AIR program’s success is due to the freedom it gives to its visiting artists, in the way that it contributes towards new creations and opportunities for the artists to get to know themselves better.

On August 3rd, at the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism, Budapest will open the AIR/HMC, Budapest closing exhibit.  Sculptors, painters, video artists arrived from the United States, Canada, France, Australia and Taiwan to Hungary.  This exhibition shows us the secret of how the artists feel and see Hungry through the artworks.  Along with the exhibit there is an Art VideoFest from 2008-09.
